Turn First to God
When scary things happen, where do you turn? When you have done all you can do in a tough situation, what do you do next?
One of our first line of defense resources when scary things happen is the Earth Angels who have been placed in our lives. Masquerading as friends and family, they can provide us with answers when our heads are too clogged with fear to think, help when we need it, or simply an ear to listen to us vent. Earth Angels can even be complete strangers to us, people who are compassionate with us and pray for our greatest good.
But these Earth Angels are not available unless we deliberately reach out to them and ask for their help. It seems that we rarely seem to notice how many people love and care about us until a crisis comes and we reach out to them? Then when a crisis is upon us, we have trouble thinking of where to turn. So, maybe we need a crisis plan, a list of things we can do when we have done all we can think of to do.
First on our crisis plan needs to be to ask God for help. For some reason most of us forget to ask God for help at the beginning of a crisis, and only come to God with our problem when the problem has become insurmountable. We need to come to God first, ask for help, and trust that the help will be there for us.
Next, we need to reach out to our support system of friends and family, understanding that they will be there for us as they can. You do have a support system, don’t you? We all need to put together a support system of people who love us, who listen to us, and who are ready to help us when we need it. It is amazing how much people are willing to help us when we need them.
Then we need to ask God to grant us our prayerful requests if it is in our highest and best interest. Next comes the tough part, accepting that we may not get our wishes and prayers granted if it is not in the highest and greatest interest for us or others for whom we make prayerful requests. God knows what is in all our Life Plans, and what will best further our Life Goals that we set for ourselves in the life-between-life period when we were on the Other Side. God loves us unconditionally and will (if we ask) lead us toward fulfilling the script we wrote for our lives.
When scary things happen, we just need to remember to turn first to God. May the God of love add a blessing to these humble words. AMEN © 2011 Rev. S. Suzanne Fisher |
