Truth and Growth

Have you ever noticed that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently? Or that you and a friend can experience the same conversation and view it totally differently? So what is truth? And what is reality?

It is important for most of us to think we know what the truth is in any given situation. But the truth we know is only the truth we allow ourselves to see. It is the truth that fits within our comfort zone and within our belief system.

Other versions of the truth are meaningless to us if we cling to the idea that only our truth is real. We have to be willing to step outside our comfort zone and embrace the possibility that other truths exist besides ours.

When we are ready to grow in this fashion, all we have to do is ask God to guide us. Then if we pay attention, we will be guided to thoughts, ideas, truths, and realities that exist beyond our current ability to comprehend. We will be shown miracles, concepts and truths that stretch our comprehension, that challenge our tightly held beliefs, and that urge us to grow and accept them.

But we will never get to this exciting place if we continue to hold tightly to our comfort zone and current belief system. Many of us have constructed layer upon layer of truths that we hold near and dear to us. We fear stepping outside what we know to expand our minds because we may find ourselves embracing the wrong things.

However, when we put God in charge of our growth, we will always be sent the things God wants us to know. Truth, then, becomes not a static thing that we cling to, but a wonderful, vast growth experience that brings us closer to God.

May the God of love add a blessing to these humble words.

AMEN
