Seeing and Being an Earth Angel

Most of us take the people and things that bless our lives for granted. These people are there in the background of our lives sustaining us, helping us, and making our lives immeasurably better. Yet it is so easy to ignore these angels who lift us to our feet when we cannot stand by ourselves, who help us pick ourselves up when we fall.

We become so used to their being there that we expect them to always be there. We often do not thank them or acknowledge them very often. Yet these angels continue to serve us. They may be friends or loved ones or relatives or even people we barely know, yet their compassion and love for their fellow humans blesses us in many ways.

Surely you have someone like this in your life. You may be hard-pressed to think who this might be since you have become so used to his or her being there for you. But we all have Earth Angels around us. We have but to recognize them as such.  Once we recognize them, our next step needs to be to thank them for being in our lives, and to thank God for putting them in our lives.

Some of us, though, feel we have to do everything for ourselves, and consequently do not see the Earth Angels around us. We have a hard time letting people help us.

What we fail to realize is what a gift we give to others when we allow them to help us. Helping others allows people to feel good about themselves.  Being an Earth Angel to someone else blesses each of us involved in the transaction.

May you resolve to both see and be an Earth Angel!

May the God of love add a blessing to these humble words.

AMEN
